Ham Morse App Reviews

One of a kind

After searching for quite some time for a program that would teach Morse Code without using the old, ineffective techniques, I finally found Ham Morse. Ive made more progress with this application in an hour than with weeks of work in others applications. This is a Morse Code tutor rather than a Morse Code toy. Thanks to this app, Ill hope catch some of you on a QSO someday.

Ham newbie, already to five characters at 20 wpm!

I cant get over how terrific this app is. Its on my apps "front page" of my iPhone. I started using this app a week ago and am already up to five characters at 20 wpm! I find the practice very relaxing and look forward to my daily practice session. Being able to practice at any time by simply pulling out my phone is truly a blessing and its apps like these that really make my phone useful. A note/tip: You can copy and paste the output of an exercise by taping on the "display" and then selecting copy. I then paste this into my notes app (Evernote) to make it easier to grade myself later. Also, be sure to read the informative notes via the "i" icon at the top right of the display.

No audio

Read the good reviews so I thought it was going to be worth buying but I was very disappointed to find that there was no audio on my iPhone. It does work on my iPad but thats not what I wanted.

All is forgiven! The re-install brings back the app.

OK.... I decoded how to upload the new version, and it is great! So, to be fair, I have to upgrade my rating. Nice fix! ---------------- I loved, I mean really loved, this app. I saw the update and thought that you were making a great product even greater. Little did I know that by updating I would lose my old app and be left with no new app. I have nothing now! Heres a clue: TEST YOUR APP BEFORE YOU INTRODUCE IN AS AN UPDATE! --------------- Any chance you will make an I-pad 2 version of this app? –-------------- OK, this is very odd. All of a sudden, the app has no sound. What happened?

A Great Way To Learn Morse Code

I, too, learned morse years ago visually... with a set of flash cards. It took me years to overcome that first learning error. This app lets you learn by hearing fast enough so you dont hear dit-dah-dit and translate in your head, you learn to hear "R". This is a very effective app for learning as well as for improving your speed.

This app is the best

Wow!!!! I am loving this app. I have been a ham working 99% CW since 1976. My hobby has always been CW rather than the tech part of the hobby and the radio has only been a means of using morse code. I also use several programs on the Internet where I use CW. So as you can tell, LISTENING to morse code is a hobby in itself. As soon as I saw the picture of the app and read the info, I knew this was going to be a great one. I also have the app called "morse-it" and it is also great but this program is MUCH easier to use. Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned CW operator, you have to get this. For the old boys nemesis g a challenge, you can take it to 50 wpm. I doubt I will ever reach that level but the best chance I have is with this program. My current copy speed is 30 to 35 wpm so there is hope. BUY THIS APP NOW. --... ...-- 73

This is EXACTLY what I was looking for--an app where I could choose which letters/numbers to randomly generate, with volume and speed control. Hoo-RAH!

Best CW app bar none

Want to learn cw? Get this app, made by a ham, for hams. Plug in your headphones, and practice practice practice, anywhere and everywhere. This app WILL teach you morse code. Easily worth $30, considering the amount of time Ive been using it.

Excellent App

Ive known Morse code for years but havent used it in a while. This a great app for getting back up to speed. This is the best app Ive purchased in a while.

Best app to learn Morse Code

Out all the apps, mp3 files, Windows software out there, I found this to be the best out there. Just 30 minutes a day for a few months using the Koch method will make you a CW operator. Even if you make mistakes, who cares. Just try again the next day. Trust me, you will do better the next day.

Great App

Great app for maintaining or improving copy skills, and very convient on long commutes.

Almost outstanding

Very good design for learning to read code. Needed improvements include: 1. Less sensitive slider for adjusting speed. 2. Ability to focus on specific letters and symbols where more practice is needed. 3. Random character sequence generator. But overall, an excellent app.

Nice app but....

I like the app but it stops working when my screen darkens to save power. Also the app will only play the audio (code) for a few minutes. I want to listen to the code while working, exercising and so on, but no, I find that every few minutes I have to stop what Im doing to baby sit the app.

Brilliant

Great app for those who wish to learn morse code.

Nice practice app

Very nice app for code practice. I use it to warm up for contests.

Best CW app

If you really want to learn cw -- morse code -- this app is for you. Customizable and well-designed. Works perfectly.

No key to practice with

Although I can appreciate the fact it will randomly send code to test your listening. There is no function to allow me to practice sending. So this is only really half an app. For the price I would expect full functionality. When they add the ability to let me practice sending I will change my review to be more than 1 star. So far not worth the money

The Best Code Practice App I’ve Found...

So far, this is the best app I’ve found for increasing my code copying accuracy and helping to increase my speed. I especially like the QSO function; you’re able to customize the app with your call sign and name, which is what then is used for the simulated QSO’s… a nice feature that helps me recognize my own call sign. One thing to be aware of though- and this is a comment that reflects how complete and functional this app is- you’ll want to make sure you go in and take a look at the list of punctuation that can be included in QSO’s and other random sets of characters sent- on a couple of occasions I was sent punctuation I had never heard before and wasn’t aware of! (like the @ sign, the dollar sign, parenthesis, etc) You can turn any or all characters, letters, numbers, pro signs, etc on or off to customize the software, so it’s not a problem. All of these are on by default when you first start. All told, though, I am finding this to be a great app that runs smoothly and is a real asset in helping increase my copying and code speed. Nice work, Simon! Tnx es gud luck, AA9PW de KG9MG

Very nice!

I haven’t done much CW in years. This app is proving very helpful in helping me get my code speed back up.
