Wow - this really works slick

Ive been using this app about a week now brushing up my CW. This has really worked great - very stable app and works as expected. The portability is wonderful for practicing everyday when the moment presents itself. I really thing youll like this training tool from this respected author.

Disappointed to say the least

No sound on iPad2

Awesome!

Perfect for practicing your Morse skills.

:)

I just barely bought this app. Ive only been playing with it for 5 minutes and Im already impressed. I know morse code SYMBOLS, im also able to (type?) in morae code, however, I have never been able to translate it very well. This app will be awesome for learning that!!!

The best way to learn!

I just started using this ap and it is exactly what i was looking for. It teaches you morse the way a typing tutor program teaches you to type: not by thinking about translating every letter, but my making it instinctive. I learned to type this way years ago. I never have to think about which finger to use and which row the key is on, instead my fingers just do it. You will never type fast or copy morse fast without making it reflexive. This ap does just that, by building your reflexes 1 character at a time. I am already making more progress with this ap in an hour than i would have made using another ap for many hours if ever. I cant imagine how slow and painful it would be to get to 15 wpm without this ap, i highly recommend it!

Problem FIXED - No sound on iPad (original ipad)

The developer has FIXED the problem of no sound on the iPad speakers. Tnx The developer has been very helpful and very interested in fixing the problem I reported. Apparently, he had submitted an update to the App store some time ago and was just waiting for Apple to approved it for update. The developer is very responsive to comments and reviews of his App. Ans he is a Ham radio Operator. Tnx and 73, Tom ***** No sound on original iPad. Visual is OK. Please issue an update so this will work for ipad. The Requirements says it will work on iPad. BUT IT DOES NOT have sound on the original iPad. And from another reviewer it does not apparently have sound on the iPad 2 either. Please correct this problem and issue an update. Tnx

Great Program

I have used a lot of cw practice programs over the past year, and this one has been my goto program since it came out. It is convenient to have on the iPhone as you can practice anytime you want, rather than having to be tethered to a computer. My favorite features are the QSOs and News Feeds. The QSO practice is much more random in sequence of content and the content itself, which is great as other practice programs that have this feature have a set routine that becomes predictable. The News Feeds keep you on your toes. Great program and worth every $! Don KF7QZB

My Favorite for cw practice!

This is a great app. Its rock solid, very configurable, and very helpful in keeping the cw speed up. Obviously, being able to practice anytime, anywhere on your iPhone or iPad is great. For those of us who know the basics, and are now trying to start with word recognition, the newest feature allowing a variable delay between the character sound and seeing it on the screen is great. I highly recommend. Oscar, WB5GCX

Nice Program

I downloaded this app based on others reviews even though it was not designed for the iPad. If you want to learn to copy/receive morse code, this will make it very easy as you can take it with you anywhere. I learned with the Koch method and plan on using this app to increase my speed and learn to copy more efficiently in my head. Please make it fit the screen area of the iPad. Custom text input would be a plus or even reading/sending a pdf file on my iPad. tnx Simon for fb app es 73 de Gil

iPhone and iPad - First Class

This is a very well done program that makes it possible to take a wide variety of CW practice sessions with you anywhere. I use it every day. Tone is clean, speed is easy to vary, and many scenarios from practice QSOs to just those 4 or 5 letters that need more drill. TU 73 WD1V

Very well done

A very thorough and well-designed morse code training and practice tool. Perhaps the best app out there (Ive tried quite a few)

Flaws are serious

The main problem is that the qso feature does not work which very bad since that would be good practice. Also you cannot sleep the iPod when the ap runs or it will quit. Leaving the screen active is inconvenient.

Ham Morse

A really fine app. All one needs to learn the code and build your code speed to as fast as you want. Although there are lots of ways to learn the code I prefer the Koch method which this app does very well. I also like the word feature. Very convenient and fun to use.

QSO Function Solution

I reported earlier that the QSO option abends the app on the iPad - I received an contact from the developer indicating that this is caused by not setting the "personal" information (name and call). Once that data is entered, the QSO function works properly. While the developer is working to correct the abend when the call sign/name fields are blank, the work around fixes the problem. With that correction, I have re-rated this app as 5 stars. I am an extra class op and am using this app to keep my speed up. I wish I would have had this app when I was learning - it would have substantially decreased the time needed to learn the code. This is a great little app - well worth the money. If you want to learn morse code - this app and a little due diligence will have you up to speed in no time at all.

Review of Ham Morse

Just bought my IPhone yesterday, the first app I purchase was Ham Morse. Wanted a program that will let me keep my receiving skills up. Everything about the program is great. The help I got from Simon to fix the QSO function of the aap. So now I am going to rate it a five star. This a great aap for someone wanting to learn code or to brush up on their code skills. Great aap.

Sound Problem Fixed

Many thanks to Simon for quickly fixing the problem with the sound. This is a great app for the CW Ham who wants to improve.

Ham Morse

Absolutely great app. Well thought out, well done. Ive used it on iPad and iPad3. This is the one to buy.

Excellant App

For any amateur wanting to learn code this app is the bomb!! Try it. You wont be disappointed!!

It has the Koch set up in it too!

I just got the iPhone 3GS. I was looking through the apps and saw this program. it said Koch! I couldnt believed my luck. The Koch system was invented by a German to teach code by hearing only, not by sight. What do you mean??? I taught myself code back in the late 70s when I became a ham. When I hear code I hear .- and that is an A, which my mind looks up in that old code book from ARRl years ago. That is the wrong way to learn code, if you want top speed. Does it work using the "sight method" (I am just calling it that for a description), yes it does. I am now retraining myself to a hearing system. Which all the the top code hams will tell you is the best way to achieve your goals. A note it will save you a lot of grief also. You push Koch button, select 2 (number of letters sent, + or- for more or less) plug in your ear phones. Your there. I use it a work, home on the road. Try it I think you will really appreciate this program. Plus, you have prosigns, words, qsos etc in the program. Once you get all the koch letters at whatever speed you choose you can go on to the other areas. Many hams buy MP3 plays and download from koch to set up use for the koch program. This program has it all in one plus the aforementioned material. Good luck! 73
